Day 20: Jesus is the “I AM”

40 DAYS OF DEVOTION

WHO IS HE?

He is the “I AM” – “The woman said to Him, ‘I know that Messiah is coming.’ Jesus said to her, ‘I who speak to you AM HE.’ Jesus was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God. The Jews took up stones again to stone Him, saying, ‘You, being a man, make Yourself out to be God.’ Unless you believe that I AM, you shall die in your sins. When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I AM. Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I AM. I am telling you before it comes to pass, so that when it does occur, you may believe that I AM.” (Jn 4:26, 5:18, 10:33, 8:24, 28, 58, 13:19).

WHO ARE WE?

We Believe in the Trinity (This study requires a brief explanatory note: The trinity is revealed most definitively in the Gospel of John. It begins as Jesus is established as identical in essence with the “I AM” of the Old Testament (Ex 3:14). He then introduces us to the Holy Spirit, who is also “the eternal Spirit” (Heb 9:14), thus confirming the three-in-oneness of our God.) – Believe that I AM in the Father and the Father is in Me. I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever, the Spirit of Truth. The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things. He will bear witness of Me and you will bear witness also. He shall glorify Me, for He shall take of Mine, and shall disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said, that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you. He abides with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans. I will come to you. My Father and I will make Our abode with you.” (Jn 14:10, 16, 15:26, 16:14, 14:17, 23).
