40 DAYS OF DEVOTION
WHO IS HE?
He is the Way – “Teach me Your ways, O God, that I may live according to Your truth! I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me. Follow Me. It is for the disciple that he become as his Teacher and the slave like his Master. He who does not take up his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has lost his life for My sake shall find it. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. The Jews spoke evil of the Way. Saul persecuted this Way to death. Felix had a more exact knowledge of the Way. For you are sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Now you have come to know God. Great and marvelous are Your works, O Lord God, the Almighty. Righteous and true are Your ways, King of the nations” (Ps 86:11, Jn 14:6, Jn 1:43, Mt 10:25, 38-39, Acts 4:12, 19:9, 22:4, 24:22, Gal 3:26, 4:9, Rev 15:3).
WHO ARE WE?
We are Followers of His Way – “Search me, O God, and know my heart. Try me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any hurtful way in me and lead me in the everlasting way. I pray, if I have found favor in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You. Peter said, ‘We have left our own homes and followed You.’ Jesus said, ‘No one who has left house or wife or family for the sake of the kingdom of God who shall not receive many times as much at this time and in the age to come, eternal life.’ Imitate me, as I imitate Christ. Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, let us draw near. Thanks be to God, who always leads us in His triumph in Christ” (Ps 139:23-24, Exod 33:13, Lk 18:28-30, 1 Cor 11:1, Heb 10:19-22, 2 Cor 2:14).
