40 DAYS OF DEVOTION
WHO IS HE?
He is Sent by God – “Jesus said to them, ‘My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.’ All will honor the son even as they honor the Father who sent Him. I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. The miraculous deeds that I do testify about Me, that the Father has sent Me. This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent. My teaching is not mine, but His who sent Me. I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me. My judgment is true, for I am not alone in it, but I and the Father who sent Me. He who sent Me is with Me, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him. I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, ever as You have loved Me” (Jn 4:34, 5:23, 30, 36, 6:29, 7:16, 29, 33, 8:29, 17:23).
WHO ARE WE?
We are Sent by God – “Look on the fields, they are ripe for harvest. I send you to reap. A slave is not greater than his master, nor is the one who is sent greater than the One who sent him. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God, and to perform healing. Go preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give. Go make disciples of all nations. Go into the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Repentance for forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in His name to all the nations. You are witnesses of these things. As the Father has sent Me, so I also send you” (4:38, 13:16, 17:18, Lk 9:2, Mt 28:19, Mk 16:15, Lk 24:47, Jn 20:21).
