40 DAYS OF DEVOTION
WHO IS HE?
He is Our Shepherd – “Thus says the Lord God, ‘Behold, I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out as a Shepherd cares for His herd. I will deliver them and gather them. Then I will set over them One Shepherd, and He will feed them. He will arise and shepherd His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord His God, and they will remain, because at that time He will be great to the ends of the earth. He felt compassion for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. I am the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for His sheep. I know My own. ‘Do you love Me? Shepherd My sheep.’ For the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their Shepherd and will guild them to springs of the water of life, and God will wipe every tear from their eyes” (Ezek 34:11-13, 23, Micah 5:4-5, Mt 2:6, Mk 6:34, Jn 10:11, 14, 21:16, Rev 7:17).
WHO ARE WE?
We Follow the Voice of Our Shepherd – “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not live in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside still waters, He restores my soul, He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. The sheep hear His voice and He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out. The sheep follow Him because they know His voice. If anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved and shall go in and out, and find pasture. My own know Me. For you were continually like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls. When the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory” (Ps 23:1-3, Jn 10:3, 1 Pet 2:25, 5:4).
