40 DAYS OF DEVOTION
WHO IS HE?
He is Our Hope – ”The Lord Jesus Christ is our hope. To you God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Put on as a helmet the hope of salvation. We have the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago. Look for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. When the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away. Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (1 Tim 1:1, Col 1:27, 1 Thes 5:8, Titus 1:2, 2:13, Col 3:4, 1 Pet 5:4, Rom 15:13).
WHO ARE WE?
We are Confident – “I pray that the eyes of your understanding will be enlightened, so that you may know the what is the hope of your calling. Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. We know that, when He appears, we shall be like Him because we shall see Him just as He is. Everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. We were saved in this hope. But hope that is seen is not hope, for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance” (Eph 1:18, 1 Pet 3:15, Heb 10:23, 1 Jn 3:2, 3, Rom 8:24, 25).
