40 DAYS OF DEVOTION
WHO IS HE?
He is our Advocate – “My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. For He Himself is the propitiation for our sins. Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is the One who died, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. Hence, He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. Jesus prayed, ‘I ask on their behalf, keep them in Your name and My name, that they may be one, even as We are one. I ask that they may have My joy made full in themselves. Protect them from the evil one. Sanctify them in truth, send them into the world. I desire they may be with Me and behold My glory’” (1 John 2:1, Rom 8:34, Heb 7:25, Jn 17:1, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 18, 24).
WHO ARE WE?
We are Cared For – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Are we to continue in sin? May it never be. No one who abides in Him practices sin. We are convinced that nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus. In all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loves us. We draw near to God through Him. The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and His ears are attentive to our prayers. As we behold the glory of the Lord, we are being transformed into the same image, from glory to glory. God is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ” (1 Jn 1:9, Rom 6:1, 1 Jn 3:6, 8:39, , 2, 8:37, Heb 7:25, 1 Pet 3:12, 2 Cor 3:18, 4:6).
